DS Automobiles has officially revealed the first details of its upcoming No.4 E-Tense, a sleek new crossover EV designed as the successor to the DS4. Instead of competing directly with large SUVs, the No.4 takes a more balanced approach, positioning itself in the sweet spot between compact cars and crossovers. This makes it a direct rival to popular models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, offering the practicality of an SUV in a more city-friendly footprint.
Battery and Range
The DS No.4 E-Tense is powered by a 58.3 kWh battery pack, which delivers up to 450 km of driving range on the WLTP cycle. This figure puts it in line with many modern mid-sized EVs, striking a balance between daily usability and long-distance capability. DS engineers have optimized the battery using an updated chemistry and 18 compact modules. This not only improves energy density but also saves valuable interior space, making the car both efficient and practical for family use.
Performance
For now, DS is offering the No.4 E-Tense in a single powertrain configuration. At its core, the No.4 E-Tense is driven by a front-mounted electric motor delivering 213 hp and 343 Nm of torque, ensuring a strong and responsive performance. This setup allows the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a quick 7.1 seconds, offering a smooth blend of efficiency and performance.

While it doesn’t compete with high-performance EVs, the acceleration is more than enough for city driving, highway cruising, and occasional spirited drives. It’s a refined mix of performance and efficiency that fits the car’s versatile positioning.
Charging Capabilities
Charging speeds are another highlight. The No.4 E-Tense supports up to 120 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be replenished from 20 to 80% in just 30 minutes. For drivers in a hurry, just 11 minutes of charging adds around 100 km of range perfect for quick top-ups during longer trips. This makes the car highly practical for everyday users who don’t want to spend extended time at charging stations.
Designed for Everyday Life
When it comes to interior space, the No.4 offers a 390-liter trunk ideal for groceries or luggage. For larger needs, folding down the rear seats expands capacity to 1,260 liters, making it flexible enough for family outings or road trips.

Dimensionally, the crossover measures 4,400 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase. With these dimensions, the No.4 E-Tense fits squarely into the mid-size crossover class, offering an ideal mix of spacious interior comfort and the nimbleness required for urban driving.

Smart Features and AI Integration
The DS No.4 comes packed with cutting-edge technology, offering drivers a suite of advanced features designed to elevate convenience, safety, and overall driving experience. Depending on the trim, drivers can enjoy a heads-up display, a night vision infrared camera for safer driving in low-light conditions, and the brand’s proprietary Iris infotainment system.

What makes the Iris system stand out is its integration of ChatGPT-based conversational AI, allowing drivers to interact with the car using natural, human-like language. This setup makes navigating, managing media, and adjusting system settings smoother and more user-friendly than ever before.
In addition, the car boasts a new digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch central touchscreen powered by the latest DS software. Another standout feature is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which lets owners power external devices such as laptops, camping gear, or even household appliances directly from the car’s battery.

Pricing and Availability
For now, pricing has only been revealed for the UK market. The entry-level PALLAS trim is expected to start at £36,995 ($50,000; ₹40,00,000), while the higher-end ETOILE trim will cost around £41,860 ($57,000; ₹50,00,000). Both versions bring premium styling and advanced tech at a price that positions the No.4 as a strong competitor in the growing EV crossover segment. According to DS, the No.4 E-Tense is scheduled to arrive in Q4 of this year, with pre-orders already open in the UK.
